Marked by its turbulent history, Johannesburg, the economic capital of South Africa, is a cultural hub full of excitement. Each year, the Arts Alive International Festival highlights the creative facet of ‘Joburg'. Newton, the art district with galleries, concert halls and dance studios, welcomes the arrival of thousands of visitors from all corners of the globe, attracted by the eclectic and cutting-edge programme of this festival that celebrates contemporary dance, music, cinema, theatre, poetry and visual art. In previous editions, author Aja Monet, spoken word artist La Pli I Donn and musician Dave Ferguson made the trip.
