Dakar, a cultural journey

Reserve a plane ticket to Dakar and immerse yourself in a capital city full of life and hidden treasures. The Teranga country's capital is welcoming, cosmopolitan and in perpetual motion.

A flight to Dakar is pleasantly disorienting with the good humor that emanates from this city. A joyous hustle and bustle permeates the streets of Dakar, from the business district of the Plateau to the traditional market of the Medina. During a stay to the senegalese capital, some major tourist sites will of course stand out: the african Renaissance monument, the grand mosque, the african memorial cathedral, the square of Independence or the colonial facade of the presidential palace. A recent monument is the Gate of the Third Millenium, a hommage to the culturally proud spirit of this city, proud, but open to others & looking towards the future.

A Dakar tourist guide will suggest some great excursions. The Retba Lake, 30 km to the north east, is an unmissable sight. It is known as the Rose Lake, due to the unexpected color of its water. A fifteen minute boat ride away from Dakar you will also discover the Island of Gorée. A territory listed as a UNESCO world heritage site. Surrounded by the deep blue Atlantic ocean, it is a charming setting with its homes adorned with bougainvillées flowers. A place of history and memory where the Slave House or the Castel fortifications will provide an educational visit.

The choice of reserving a flight to Dakar is also a cultural choice, the african culture with its incredible artistic inventiveness. The traditional or contemporary music concerts are prime examples, blending influences with a unique touch of senegalese flair. The african craft village of Soumbédioune promotes the ancestral traditions of Senegal, with its masks and idols.
