In sync with Gamla Enskede, the peaceful southern suburb of Stockholm and first Swedish “garden city” where the restaurant took hold, Matateljén conveys a warm and cosy atmosphere in a rustic setting. The seasonal menu changes daily, showcasing a variety of fresh products, as well as light and healthy dishes, often suitable for vegetarians.
Servings are voluntarily small, in a sharing and tasting spirit: the hard choice is no more, as you can order several dishes to your liking and share them with the rest of your dining party. Here, cooking is fine-tuned and flavours are innovative, in keeping with an inspiring culinary experience. The menu does not display the exact nature of each dish, but rather a succession of ingredients – transparency is paramount – like “rabbit, cheddar and green hot peppers”, “pesto salsify, pecorino cheese and marinated onions” or “agnolotti (stuffed pasta) alla ricotta, with zamorano (Spanish goat cheese), artichokes and sage”. Dive deeper into the location's atmosphere and explore backstage. For that, book early and ask for a table set in the very middle of the open kitchen!
