Baggage services and lost items

Didn't receive your baggage upon arrival at the airport? Please accept our apologies. Here you will find information on what to do if your baggage was not delivered.

Declare missing baggage online

Depending on your arrival airport, you have 2 options to signal a baggage delay: online, within 48 hours of your arrival; or at baggage service before leaving the airport.

Declare missing baggage online within 48 hours of your arrival. As a result, save time at the airport and process your declaration worry-free.
To do this, please provide the baggage receipt you received at baggage check-in. You must indicate the number containing 2 letters and 6 digits printed on the baggage tag.

Declare missing baggage at the airport

Please alert AIR FRANCE KLM* Baggage Service of the baggage delay at your arrival airport as soon as possible.
We will issue a document (entitled "Property Irregularity Report - PIR") that you must fill out before leaving the airport. You will then receive a file number. Please keep it to track your request.

Claims on necessity purchases

Did you make necessity purchases* (such as personal hygiene products or clothing) because your baggage was late? You have 21 days from the date of your baggage's return to submit a reimbursement request via the online declaration form or through Air France Baggage Service.

Tracking file progress

You can track the progress of your file online using the WorldTracer tool or by contacting your arrival airport's baggage service, which is responsible for handling your baggage file. When your baggage is located, we then contact you to arrange for delivery.

What to do if your baggage
is not found

- If we do not locate your baggage within 2 or 3 days following your arrival, please fill out the inventory form that was provided to you when your baggage file was created at the airport. Once completed, please return it by mail to Air France Baggage Service.
- You can also fill out the PDF version of the inventory form, which is available online.
- If your baggage has not been located after 21 days, customer service in your country of residence will contact you directly.
- You can also contact customer service in your country or residence at any time.

Compensation for lost baggage

If despite all efforts your baggage is not found, Air France can offer compensation. According to the Montreal convention, this compensation can be paid up to approximately €1,295*. To obtain this compensation, please complete the online claim form. If you have already completed an online declaration form for the loss of your baggage, please indicate the file number that you received. Otherwise, we will provide you with a tracking number to keep.

You can also contact customer service in your country of residence.

Please note: when checking in baggage, you can make a special declaration if the value of your property exceeds the maximum compensation provided (€1,295*). Depending on the difference, you will be compensated at its true value in case of loss.

* Compensation is counted in Special Drawing Rights (SDR). The SDR is the currency used by the International Monetary Fund. 1,131 SDR converts to approximately €1,295 (this conversion rate varies according to fluctuations in currency).
